Jonas began playing with the Prince Charles Grade IV Pipe Band in the 2001-2002 season. In 2003 Jonas began playing with the Prince Charles Grade III band and traveled with the band to Scotland in their bid for the Grade 3A World Pipe Band Championships - which they won.

Following the 2003 season, the band membership changed and Jonas was promoted to Pipe Sergeant, which he held for several seasons, including the band's second bid for the World Pipe Band Championships in 2005 where they placed fourth.

From 2006-2008 Jonas lead the Grade III band as Pipe Major, maintaining the band’s strong competitive reputation over the three year period.

In 2010 Piper Jonas joined and began competing with the Robert Malcolm Memorial Pipe Band (RMMPB) Grade III band in Vancouver, Canada. After two years the band traveled to Scotland for the 2012 World Pipe Band Championships where they won 1st place. The following year, RMMPB was upgraded to Grade II.

In 2014 Piper Jonas served as an instructor for the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Pipes and Drums in San Jose, CA and most recently in 2017 joined the newly rebranded Silicon Valley Pipe Band to reenter competition.
